Since you’ve created your blog on wordpress.com and started writing some posts but don’t know how to keep track on your published posts. Though wordpress provides you significant amount of stats, it’s necessary to get other information regarding your blog. For that and other purposes, wordpress.com provides some tools by which you can collect all other information about your blog.
Once you’ve created your blog on wordporess.com, it’s important to manage it and keep an eye on the progress of your blog posts. For that reason, you’ve to verify your wordpress.com blog with any/all of the tools available in wordpress. There are three tools given namely, Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster Tools and Pinterest Site Verification in order to verify your blog. In this post, I’m going to tell you the process of verifying your blog using Bing Webmaster Tools.
In order to verify your wordpress.com blog, begin with these steps:
1. Go to Bing webmaster tools
To verify your wordpress.com blog using Bing webmaster, go to Bing webmaster tools and enter your blog address into ‘Add a site’ box. Then click ‘ADD’.
2. Enter details
For example, my blog URL is – https://jitusblog.wordpress.com
And thus my sitemap will be like this – https://jitusblog.wordpress.com/sitemap.xml
If you’re new user, leave the next option as it is (i.e. ‘All day’ by default)
3. Copy HTML meta tag
To get the verification code for your blog, go to ‘Option2’. Copy the entire meta tag that’s present in the gray box.
4. Paste meta tag in wordpress blog
Open your wordpress.com blog and go to Tools > Available Tools. Here you’ll see three options including ‘Bing Webmaster Tools’ to verify your blog. Since you’re now verifying your blog using Bing webmaster, paste the previously copied code into the box next to the option ‘Bing Webmaster Tools’ and then click ‘Save changes’.
5. Confirm your verification
Hit ‘Verify’ on Bing Webmaster’s page. If you’ve done all steps correctly, your blog must now be verified and should appear in Bing webmaster home page. To make sure, select your blog from Bing webmaster home and click on ‘Verify ownership’ option under ‘Configure my site’ option located to the left of the page. Here you’ll see a message at the bottom of the page that your blog is verified.
When you decide to write on your blog and wish that some of your audience would read it, it’s equally important to pay attention to progress of your blog. Whether your content is indexed in Bing search results, is there any crawling error, does your site is submitted on time and many more such things are essential for a blogger in order to keep his blog on top. Thus, Bing Webmaster is, I’ll say, an important thing to do on first place.
