So you’ve created your blog on wordpress.com and started writing some posts but don’t know how to keep track on your published posts. Though wordpress provides you significant amount of stats, it’s necessary to get other information regarding your blog. For that and other purposes, wordpress.com provides some tools by which you can collect all other information about your blog.
Once you’ve created your blog on wordpress.com, it’s important to manage it and keep an eye on the progress of your blog posts. For that reason, you’ve to verify your wordpress.com blog with any/all of the tools available in wordpress. There are three tools given namely, Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster Tools and Pinterest Site Verification in order to verify your blog. In this post, I’m going to tell you the process of verifying your blog using Google Webmaster Tools.
In order to verify your wordpress.com blog, begin with these steps:
1. Go to Google webmaster tools
To verify your wordpress.com blog using Google webmaster, go to Google webmaster tools and click on the ‘Add a site’ button located on the top right corner of the page. Then enter your complete blog address in the pop-up window and select ‘Continue’.
2. Copy HTML meta tag
To get the verification code for your blog, click on ‘Alternate method’ and select ‘HTML tag’. Copy the entire meta tag that’ll appear in the white line.
3. Paste meta tag in wordpress blog
Open your wordpress.com blog and go to Tools > Available Tools. Here you’ll see three options including ‘Google Webmaster Tools’ to verify your blog. Since you’re now verifying your blog using Google webmaster, paste the previously copied code into the box next to the option ‘Google Webmaster Tools’ and then click ‘Save changes’.
4. Confirm your verification
If you’ve done all steps correctly, your blog must now be verified and should appear in Google webmaster. To make sure, select your blog from Google webmaster home and click on ‘Verification Details’ option from the gear icon. Here you’ll see the message that you are the verified owner for that blog.
When you decide to write on your blog and wish that some of your audience would read it, it’s equally important to pay attention to progress of your blog. Whether your content is indexed in Google search results, does your authorship is working, is there any crawling error, does your site is submitted on time and many more such things are essential for a blogger in order to keep his blog on top. Thus, Google Webmaster is, I’ll say, a crucial thing to do on first place.
